The house of normal

The concept of ‘House of Normal’ began around 2007 as a niche t-shirt design. With my background in 3D modeling and animation, I created a logo that featured a grayscale 3D house in wireframe, with its ‘normals’ visible.
In 3D space, a surface normal is "a vector perpendicular to the tangent plane of a surface at a given point." In simpler terms, it’s a line that sticks out from a polygon, indicating which direction the face is pointing. This helps in identifying doubled-up or overlapping polygons that could cause errors or glitches in a render.

The logo was called “House of Normals” because it showed a house model with its normals turned on—a detail I personally found hilarious at the time.
By 2022, I was searching for a name that captured our unconventional lifestyle. Both of us live a bit differently from what’s considered typical. We don’t work full-time, spend a lot of time on creative projects, live on a micro-farm outside the city, don’t own a car, and mostly travel by bike.
The name "House of Normal" also became the title for the YouTube videos we were making back then.

In august 2024, House of Normal became an officially registered business in Australia. It started when we began live streaming our art projects, and later, our Minecraft sessions with Rosanna, Suki, and myself playing on our local server. As we connected with Twitch communities, we also began to build our own.
In September 2024, I left my full-time position at a university to focus entirely on creative art projects. These include traditional and digital paintings, a series of comic books, animated shorts, video games development, and continuing to grow our Twitch community, while also supporting other creative communities.

Art, Animation, Kung Fu, craft builds, and games, Minecraft and Retro Arcades.
